Landover, Md. - The Washington Redskins entered halftime with a 27-14 lead over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday at FedEx Field.
Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins threw for three touchdowns and kicker Dustin Hopkins added a 35-yard field goal and a 23-yarder to account for Washington's points. Cousins was 17 of 20 for 296 yards and TD passes to Jordan Reed (16 yards), Matt Jones (29 yards) and Jones again (78 yards). Jones finished the half with three catches for 131 yards.
Saints quarterback Drew Brees had two touchdown passes Brandin Cooks (4 and 60 yards) to account for the Saints' points. Brees was 7 of 9 for 105 yards but was sacked twice. Running back Mark Ingram had a 70-yard run in the first quarter to set up Brees' first scoring pass to Cooks. Ingram finished the half with three carries for 81 yards.
Two Redskins players - running back Alfred Morris and receiver DeSean Jackson - left the game with injuries. Saints cornerback Keenan Lewis went to the locker room following the collision that forced Jackson from the game.
The Saints had three sacks in the first half, one by Jairus Byrd, one by Obum Gwacham and a sack split by Tyeler Davison and Gwacham.
