For those fans that attend and watch the New Orleans Saints practice during training camp, the rigors that a professional football player goes through are obvious. Two practices a day in heat that regularly reaches into the 90's, coupled with the ever-present humidity that makes even being outside for any period of time a rather uncomfortable experience. But training camp is quite a bit more for the players and coaches of the Saints, as plenty of work is being done behind the scenes, with each day starting early and going well into the night, usually with the vision that the next day holds much of the same routine as the previous day.
"Camp is camp," said veteran defensive end Will Smith. "Camp is an opportunity to get better and get in football shape and get your body ready for hitting. You can't do that stuff in the spring, so this is what camp is for. It's going to be the same as any other year except that we're the defending champs."
