Safety Jairus Byrd thanked fans for their support Friday after news broke that he would be placed on season-ending injured reserve with a knee injury.
"Thanks for all the prayers and texts I will bounce back...I thank God even in this situation. Philippians 4:11-13," Byrd said in a tweet Friday afternoon.
Coach Sean Payton said Byrd suffered a bucket handle meniscus tear during Thursday's practice and has already had season-ending surgery by Dr. James Andrews.
Byrd started the first four games for the Saints, earning 29 total tackles (21 solo), two pass deflections and forced the Saints' only turnover of the season by stripping the ball from Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones in Week 1.
