Quick hits from New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton's Friday afternoon news conference:
- In order for a team to have a good running game, receivers have to block well in addition to the offensive line. Payton said that Willie Snead IVand Brandon Colemanblocked well against Seattle, with the Saints running for 123 yards on 35 carries. "They were two guys that did a real good job last week," Payton said. "They're guys that understand the force pattern, and then they understand technique."
- San Francisco's defense is last in the league against the run (185.1 yards per game) and in points allowed (31.3). But linebacker Ahmad Brooksremains a force in his 11th season, with 2.5 sacks and three passes defensed. "He's very good," Payton said. "He's got real good instincts. He's long, and that can be problematic when he's to the quarterback's right (side). So you see a lot of ball disruption on naked (bootlegs), movement throws going that way. He's a real good pass rusher. I think he's a very good player."
- Linebackers Dannell Ellerbeand James Laurinaitis(quads) have been declared out for Sunday's game, as well as running back Daniel Lasco(hamstring). Cornerbacks Delvin Breauxand Sterling Mooreare among the players listed as questionable.
