The New Orleans Saints will face three AFC opponents in a four-game 2014 preseason schedule, including one contest that will be televised nationally in prime time.
The Saints will kick off their 2014 preseason when they travel to face the St. Louis Rams at the Edward Jones Dome in week one. This will be the first time that New Orleans will face their former NFC West rivals in the preseason since 1968. The Saints played their first game ever against the Rams in Anaheim, Calif. on August 2, 1967 in a 16-7 exhibition loss and then dropped a 21-7 decision at the Rams in the 1968 preseason.
In Week two, the Saints will host the Tennessee Titans in the home opener at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. With 29 previous meetings, the Houston Oilers/Titans franchise is New Orleans' most common preseason opponent, with the preseason series deadlocked at 14-14-1.
New Orleans will play the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Field Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 23 in a prime-time contest nationally televised on CBS. The Saints trail the Colts 7-5 in the preseason series, but lead Indianapolis 6-5 in the regular season and also defeated them 31-17 in Super Bowl XLIV.
The Saints will close out the 2014 preseason at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, August 28. The Saints will also host the Ravens in the regular season at a date to be announced when the NFL releases the schedule later in the spring.
New Orleans went 3-1 in the 2013 preseason, their first winning preseason campaign since 2009 when they posted an identical record.
