Teams played Sunday at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome

With the loss, New Orleans falls to 4-8 on the season. Its record at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome this season falls to 3-3. The Saints return next week when they visit Raymond James Stadium for a matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-6). Kickoff is at noon CST.

  • The loss drops the Saints' all-time record against Carolina to 19-23, while their home record against the Panthers moves to 9-12.
  • The Saints converted a pair of two-point conversions (one on offense and one on defense), doing so for the third time in club history. They posted 2 two-point conversions vs. St. Louis on Nov. 11, 2007, and vs. Houston on Sept. 25, 2011.
  • QB Drew Brees played in his 213th career game, moving him into a tie with Dave Krieg (1980-98) for 12th place on the list for all-time games played among quarterbacks.
  • Brees was 24-of-42 for 282 yards and three touchdowns, with one interception. He now has 68 career games with at least three touchdown throws.
  • Against Carolina, Brees has completed 498-of-755 passes (66.0 percent) for 5,455 yards and 34 touchdowns, with 17 interceptions.
  • Brees and wide receiver Brandin Cooks connected on a 54-yard touchdown in the third quarter, the 10th time the two have connected on a score. With the touchdown reception, Cooks moved into a tie for 10th place on Brees' all-time touchdown pass targets with Eric Parker (2002-05).
  • Cookstotaled**104 yards and the touchdown on six receptions. It was his second career game with at least 100 yards receiving.
  • WR* Marques Colston*appeared in his 144th career game, moving him into a tie with for 13th on the Saints' all-time games played list. He has also now played in the most career games for a Saints wide receiver, surpassing Eric Martin. He caught one ball for 14 yards.
  • TEBenjamin Watson, in his 159th career game, caught four balls for 38 yards and one touchdown, a 14-yard touchdown grab that put the Saints up 6-0 midway through the first quarter.
  • WRBrandon Colemanmade a career-high-tying four receptions for a career-high 73 yards, including a career-long 31 yard catch in the first quarter that set New Orleans up for their first score.
  • On the Saints' first drive of the game RBMark Ingramcaught a two-yard pass, the 100th reception of his career. Ingram finished with four catches for 23 yards and now has a career-high 50 receptions on the season. His previous high was the 46 that he pulled in last season.
  • Ingramnow has 1,174 total yards from scrimmage in 2015, breaking his previous career high of 1,109 set in 2014. He entered Sunday's games ranked sixth in the NFL in total yards from scrimmage.
  • LBStephone Anthonycaused and recovered a Jonathan Stewart fumble in the first quarter and returned it 31 yards for a touchdown. It was Anthony's first career touchdown, as well as his first career fumble recovery. He also registered 10 tackles.
  • Anthonyreturned a blocked PAT kick attempt and returned it 82 yards for the two-point conversion, marking the first time in NFL history that a blocked PAT kick attempt resulted in a two-point conversion. The NFL changed the rule before the 2015 season to allow defensive returns on PAT attempts.
  • Anthonyis the third Saints player to record a touchdown and a two-point conversion in the same game, joining Darren Sproles and Lance Moore.
  • The last player to score a defensive touchdown for the Saints was LB Jonathan Vilma, who took an interception back 18 yards for the score on Dec. 30, 2012, against Carolina.
  • CBDelvin Breauxintercepted a Cam Newton pass intended for Ted Ginn Jr. in the first quarter and returned it 22 yards. The pick was Breaux's second career interception. He added one tackle before leaving the game with a right leg injury.
  • With the two takeaways in the first quarter, the Saints posted their first opening quarter with two takeaways since they notched two on Oct. 27, 2013, against Buffalo.
  • The Saints tallied three turnovers in the first half, doing so for the second time this season. They also had three takeaways in the first half of their victory at Indianapolis on Oct. 25.
  • CBBrian Dixonforced a fumble of Greg Olsen in the second quarter, his first forced fumble of the season and second of his career. Seeing his most extensive action this season on the defense, he finished with three tackles.
  • SKenny Vaccarorecovered the Olsen fumble, recording the first fumble recovery of his career. He totaled the fumble recovery and nine tackles.
  • DECameron Jordanrecorded one sack and six tackles. On the season, he now has eight QB takedowns.
  • DTKevin Williamsblocked the PAT kick attempt and posted two tackles.
  • LBJames Andersonmade the start at LB, marking his first start since Dec. 29, 2013 against Green Bay as a member of the Chicago Bears. He tallied a game-high 11 tackles.
  • TZach Striefappeared in his 137th career contest, moving him into sole possession of 19th place on the club's all-time games played list, ahead of safety Tommy Myers.
  • PThomas Morstead played in his 106th career game, moving into a tie with defensive end Joe Johnson and center Jake Kupp for 39th on the team's all-time games played list.
