Defense in the spotlight

The New Orleans Saints' defense came into Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers having gotten stops on their previous 13 third-down plays, including 0-for-9 the previous week against the Dallas Cowboys. They held the 49ers' offense without a first down on their first three possessions to extend the streak to 16 before the 49ers converted on third down on their fourth possession.
