New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced Saturday that the team has placed RB Pierre Thomas on the reserve/injured list, ending the season for the six-year veteran. The Saints have signed CB A.J. Davis to the active roster from the team's practice squad.

Thomas was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2007 after playing at the University of Illinois and led the Saints in rushing in both 2008 and 2009. The former Illini has scored 33 career touchdowns and ranks seventh on the club's all-time rushing list with 626 carries for 2,974 yards. His 4.8 yards per carry average ranks fourth in club record books and he is only the fourth player in franchise history to record 2,500 yards rushing and 1,500 yards receiving. Thomas played in in 15 games in 2012 and registered 105 carries for 473 yards (4.5 avg.) and one touchdown and also hauled in 39 receptions for 354 yards and a touchdown.

Davis, 6-0, 183, spent a significant amount of 2012 with the Saints as he competed for a roster spot during training camp and was signed to the practice squad on November 6. The Clay, Ala. native was a four-year letterman at Jacksonville State and totaled 126 tackles (97 solo), six interceptions, 17 passes defensed, three fumble recoveries and one blocked kick.
