1. Mykel Williams, Edge, Georgia

Mykel Williams is a common pick for the Saints in mock drafts due to his elite athleticism, size, and potential as a disruptive edge rusher. Experts consistently highlight his high ceiling, versatility, and raw pass-rushing ability. His lack of overwhelming college production (never more than five sacks in a season) is noted, but scouts believe his traits and upside could translate into a dominant NFL pass rusher with proper development.

Mykel Williams' Career Overview

  • 2x 2nd-Team All-SEC (2023 & 2024)
  • Led Georgia with 8.5 TFL & 5.0 Sacks in 2024
  • PFF Stats: Led team in pressures both seasons (2022 & 2023)
  • National Champion 2022 – Key contributor with 4.5 sacks
  • Freshman All-American (2022)

Mykel Williams' Combine Results

Height: 6-5 1/8 | Weight: 260 | Hand Size: 10 1/4 | Arm Length: 34 3/8
40-Yard Dash: DNP | 10-Yard Split: DNP | Vertical Leap: DNP | Broad Jump: DNP
3-Cone Drill: DNP | 20-Yard Shuttle: DNP | Bench Press: DNP

Lance Zierlein's NFL.com overview on Mykel Williams

"An upside prospect with loads of traits, Williams simply needs more snaps and more time to fill out his frame. He is an explosive athlete who uses his exceptional length to keep tackles and tight ends at the end of his punch. He plays a little too tall at the point and needs to get stronger to shed blocks more quickly, but he plays with good physicality in the trenches and is never pushed around. He's still learning moves and counters but already has a big bull rush, good secondary effort and the closing burst to become a sack blanket in the pocket. He's not there yet, but Williams' improvement to become an impactful 4-3 base end feels inevitable."

2. Tetairoa McMillan, Wide Receiver, Arizona

Tetairoa McMillan is a big-bodied, contested-catch specialist who has been frequently mocked to the Saints. At 6 feet 5, 212 pounds, experts highlight his exceptional ball skills, fluid movement for his size, and ability to separate using length rather than elite speed. His ability to track deep throws, win 50/50 balls, and contribute in the red zone makes him a high-upside selection at No. 9 overall.

Tetairoa McMillan's Career Overview

  • 2024: 1st-Team Associated Press All-American, 1st-Team All-Big 12 Conference
  • 2023: 3rd-Team Associated Press All-American, 2nd-Team All-Pac-12 Conference
  • Set Arizona's all-time career receiving yards record (3,423 yards), passing Bobby Wade
  • 2024: 1,319 yards, 84 receptions, 8 TDs (Ranked 3rd in FBS for receiving yards)
  • 2023: 1,402 yards, 90 receptions, 10 TDs (Tied for team lead)
  • Led all FBS players in contested catches since 2023 (35 total, per PFF)
  • First Power-4 player to have 80+ receptions, 1,300+ yards & 8+ TD in consecutive seasons since Justin Blackmon (2010-2011)

Tetairoa McMillan's Combine Results

  • Height: 6-4 | Weight: 219 | Hand Size: 10 | Arm Length: 31 1/2
  • 40-Yard Dash: DNP | 10-Yard Split: DNP | Vertical Leap: DNP | Broad Jump: DNP
  • 3-Cone Drill: DNP | 20-Yard Shuttle: DNP | Bench Press: DNP

Lance Zierlein's NFL.com overview on Tetairoa McMillan

"Possession receiver with the size and ball skills to create big wins deep. He's a linear route-runner who wears press coverage early and coasts too often on deep routes, but he has a feel for uncovering underneath and can play over the top of cornerbacks for easier jump-ball wins. McMillan is instinctive with a feel for adjusting his routes and working back on throws to make the quarterback's job easier. He needs to show more consistent play speed and physicality to protect his workspace. His elite ball skills set him apart, though, providing a higher floor as a "Z" option with mismatch value in the slot."

3. Will Johnson, Cornerback, Michigan

At 6-2 and 202 pounds, Johnson possesses the ideal size, length, and instincts to thrive in a man-heavy system. His ability to eliminate top receivers and force turnovers makes him a potential CB1 for a defense in transition. Johnson allowed zero touchdowns in coverage since 2023, which speaks to his ability to lock down a side of the field. His injury history, including a toe injury that sidelined him for much of 2024, is a concern, but when healthy, he has top-10 talent and elite ball skills.

Will Johnson's Career Overview

  • 2024: 3rd-Team Associated Press All-American, Honorable Mention All-Big Ten Conference
    • Tied team lead with 2 INT despite playing just 6 games
    • Set Michigan's school record with 3 career pick-sixes
    • Allowed a 36.7 passer rating in coverage since 2023 (4th-lowest among FBS CBs, per PFF)
    • One of 7 FBS CBs to allow 0 TDs in coverage since 2023 (min. 400 coverage snaps, per PFF)
  • 2023: 1st-Team All-Big Ten Conference, National Championship Game Defensive MVP
    • 4 INTs (led team), 4 PBUs in 12 games
  • 2022: Freshman All-American, played all 14 games (five starts), three INTs as a true freshman
  • NFL Comparison: Often compared to Patrick Surtain II for his size, smooth movement, and shutdown ability
  • Athletic Background: Father, Deon Johnson, was a DB at Michigan (1990-94), sister works in Michigan's recruiting department

Will Johnson's Combine Results

  • Height: 6-2 | Weight: 194 | Hand Size: 9 1/8 | Arm Length: 30 1/8
  • 40-Yard Dash: DNP | 10-Yard Split: DNP | Vertical Leap: DNP | Broad Jump: DNP
  • 3-Cone Drill: DNP | 20-Yard Shuttle: DNP | Bench Press: DNP

Lance Zierlein's NFL.com overview on Will Johnson

"Teams love big, fluid cornerbacks with ball production and that is exactly what Johnson offers. He's instinctive and plays with good body control and change of direction in space. He can play man coverage, but he's at his best when playing with his eyes forward instead of chasing routes downfield. Johnson displays good pre-snap recognition and can read and anticipate routes/throws at a high level. While he plays the role of thief in coverage, he needs to balance that mentality with a healthy respect for NFL route-runners, as he might lack the recovery speed to close the distance at a desired rate. He has coveted traits and his areas of concern fail to stand out as impediments for what could become a long, successful career as a future Pro Bowler."

Post-Combine Saints Mock Drafts for 2025 NFL Draft

Lance Zierlein's latest mock draft has the Saints drafting Shemar Stewart, defensive tackle from Texas A&M.

"The Saints could try to trade out if the board falls like this, but in this scenario, they make the risk/reward pick in Stewart. Hopefully, he can take the torch from Cam Jordan, who's turning 36 this summer."

Shemar Stewart's Career Overview

2024: 3rd-Team All-SEC, 31 tackles, 5.5 TFL, 1.5 sacks (career-high in tackles & TFL)
2023: Played all 13 games (1 start), 11 tackles, 2.0 TFL, 1.5 sacks
2022: Played all 12 games (6 starts), 23 tackles, 3.5 TFL, 1.5 sacks
High School: Five-star recruit from Monsignor Pace Academy in Miami

Shemar Stewart's Combine Results

  • Height: 6-5 | Weight: 267 | Hand Size: 9 1/8 | Arm Length: 34 1/4
  • 40-Yard Dash: 4.59 | 10-Yard Split: 1.58 | Vertical Leap: 40 | Broad Jump: 10-11
  • 3-Cone Drill: - | 20-Yard Shuttle: - | Bench Press: -

Lance Zierlein's NFL.com overview on Shemar Stewart

"Stewart is carved from granite, possessing a rare blend of traits, explosiveness and untapped upside. He's long and sudden off the snap but hasn't learned to weaponize his hands to control the point of attack and bypass protection with go-to moves. His bull-rush compresses the pocket off the edge, and he's too athletic for guards when reduced inside. He can be very disruptive in both phases but requires additional training to start converting his opportunities into finishes. The lack of production relative to the traits is a concern; still, players who move like him are highly coveted. While the boom-or-bust label might be in play, it feels like a matter of time before it all starts to click at a high level."

ESPN Draft Analyst Jordan Reid

Jordan Reid's latest mock draft has the Saints drafting Tyler Warren, tight end from Penn State.

"The Saints need to add a prolific, go-to option for new coach Kellen Moore's offense. At 6-foot-5, 256 pounds, Warren is a rugged tight end who thrives in chaos. He has the ability to win in contested spaces against zone coverage or with defenders draped over his body in man coverage. Warren finished with a Penn State-record 104 receptions for 1,233 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. He has true formational versatility, with the ability to play in-line or flexed out."

Tyler Warren's Career Overview

2024: John Mackey Award winner, 104 receptions (T-2nd in FBS), 1,233 yards (school record for TEs), 8 TDs, Fiesta Bowl MVP (six rec, 63 yds, two TDs), 4 rushing TDs, 35 passing yards & one passing TD.
2023: 3rd-Team All-Big Ten, 34 rec, 422 yards, seven TDs
2022: 10 rec, 123 yards, three TDs
2021: Five rec, 61 yards, one TD
High School: 4-star recruit, dual-threat QB with 1,149 passing yards & 14 TDs, 677 rushing yards & 10 TDs as a senior. Multi-sport standout (basketball & baseball).

Tyler Warren's Combine Results (Pending Pro Day)

  • Height: 6-6 | Weight: 261 | Hand Size: 9 1/2 | Arm Length: 31 3/4
  • 40-Yard Dash: - | 10-Yard Split: - | Vertical Leap: - | Broad Jump: -
  • 3-Cone Drill: - | 20-Yard Shuttle: - | Bench Press: -

Lance Zierlein's NFL.com overview on Tyler Warren

"The ultimate "whatever, whenever" player in the 2025 draft with the size, athleticism and competitive spirit to make good on his intentions. Warren plays with swagger and "best player on the field" energy. He imprints on games with alignment versatility, allowing opportunities for play-callers to stress the defense. Despite his size, he's quick enough to beat man coverage underneath and plays with good recognition of holes in coverage. He has the ball skills and toughness to win contested catches and withstand punishing contact. He's very capable as a lead/move blocker but will need a little improvement at sustaining blocks when blocking in-line. Warren can access all three levels of the field but is best served short and intermediate. He possesses elite football character and plays with a confidence that can be contagious. He has a chance to become one of the best tight ends in the league."
