The New Orleans Saints, Winn-Dixie and Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana urge fans to donate nonperishable items at a special collection at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome during Winn-Dixie's title sponsorship game against the Detroit Lions.

The special collection at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome officially ends the fifth annual food drive that occurred at Winn-Dixie stores in the Greater New Orleans area in November.

Collection points open at 4 p.m. and are located at Gates A, C, E, G and Champions Square.

Items needed include canned vegetables/fruit, soups, beans, tuna, chili, stew, peanut butter, rice, pasta, etc.  Monetary donations will be accepted as well. The need for food this time of year is critical.

Additionally, the Saints and Marine Toys for Tots Foundation are teaming up to deliver the magic of the holidays to less fortunate children our area through their annual Touchdown for Tots program.

With 16 million children living in poverty in the United States, the need for Toys for Tots is greater than ever. Saints fans can get involved by bringing a new, unwrapped toy to the Saints vs. Lions game at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on this Sunday, December 4th, with drop-off locations at each entrance of Champions Square, at Gates A's Ground-Level entrance, and the upper exterior entrances at Gates A & D.

For 65 years, the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation has delivered a message of hope to less fortunate children through the gift of a new toy during the holiday season.  Toys can be donated even after the game, through December 24th.  To do so, and for more information about the program, visit www.toysfortots.org/touchdown to read how you can sponsor a toy for a less fortunate child during this holiday season.
