New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced Monday that the club has signed free agent wide receiver Greg Camarilloto a one-year contract. The team has also placed linebacker Chris Chamberlainon Injured Reserve and waived/injured tackle Fenuki Tupou.
Camarillo, a 6-2, 200-pound wideout entering his seventh NFL season, is a former undrafted free agent who entered the league with the San Diego Chargers in 2005, spending the entire season on their practice squad. A native of Menlo Park, Calif. who went on to play at Stanford, Camarillo has played in 75 career games with 28 starts in stints with San Diego (2005), the Miami Dolphins (2007-09) and the Minnesota Vikings (2010-11). He has career totals of 142 receptions for 1,686 yards (11.9 avg.) with five touchdowns.
He enjoyed his two most productive NFL seasons from 2008-09, when he started all 27 games he appeared in for the Dolphins and recorded 105 catches for 1,165 yards with two touchdowns.
Camarillo will wear number 17.
