New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced Friday that the club has re-signed restricted free agent wide receiver Lance Moore, as the wideout* *signed the club's qualifying offer. The Saints also waived rookie RB Christian Ducre.
Moore originally joined the Saints in the middle of the 2005 season and has established himself as a reliable and consistent option in QB Drew Brees' arsenal. Also possessing the ability to impact the return game, the 5-foot-9, 190-pound product of the University of Toledo has recorded 126 receptions for 1,393 yards (11.1 avg.) with 14 touchdowns in his career. Moore has also returned 18 kickoffs for 354 yards (19.7 avg.) and 33 punts for 270 yards (8.2 avg.).
Moore enjoyed his finest season as a professional in 2008 when he led the club in receiving with 79 catches for 928 yards (11.7 avg.) and ten touchdowns, setting a club record that has since been matched by teammate Marques Colstonby recording a scoring grab in five consecutive contests. In 2009, Moore's season was interrupted by hamstring and ankle injuries, as he made 14 receptions for 153 yards and two touchdowns. Healthy in the postseason he made five grabs for 32 yards, also coming up with a two-point conversion in Super Bowl XLIV that extended New Orleans' lead to 24-17.
