Second-quarter update: The Patriots used two short touchdown runs by Stevan Ridley to take a 17-7 lead Sunday against the New Orleans Saints at Gillette Stadium.

The Saints' offense struggled to get going in the quarter and star tight end Jimmy Graham hasn't caught a pass. The Saints' defense has sacked Tom Brady four times.

Key stats: Drew Brees, 9 of 19, 111 yards, one TD; Patriots, Tom Brady, 16 of 21, 163 yards; Stevan Ridley, 11 carries for 61 yards, two TDs.
