Sean Payton talks about New Orleans Saints loss to Miami Dolphins

New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton updated the status of several players

New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton

on the schedule for the upcoming week:  "We'll bring them in. They'll lift weights. They'll run. We'll watch the tape with them. We really have two days now to make a lot of decisions. There were some good things tonight. I thought overall, though, penalties … penalties and the turnovers really hurt us. Penalties in the first half, we had 10. And the three fumbles … those were big plays that we just got to be better with the football. I thought a lot of guys gave good efforts. So it should be an interesting tape to watch."

On getting receiver Marques Colston some reps: "We have a hard time playing a guy that doesn't play at all. So, we did it with Pierre (Thomas) some a week ago. We did it with Patrick Robinson.  I would have liked to have done it with Junior (Galette), we're going to wait. They don't get those snaps … it's just important to get those guys ready to go."

On putting pressure on the quarterback: "I thought our guys did a good job. We handled some short fields … there were a number of positives."

On the status of running back Travaris Cadet: "He did not make the trip. We ended up playing (Khiry) Robinson a bunch and you saw (Mark) Ingram and Pierre (Thomas) get enough snaps."

On the play and status of Jay Richardson: "He's competing in there. He's one of those guys we'll look closely at. He's had a good camp. I think regardless of whether he's a veteran or not, we're just trying to look closely at whether he can help us or not. I think he's done a lot of good things. He's someone who's right there."

On the status of receiver Nick Toon: "I think he's fine. They were just concerned … they did a quick scan and I think that came back positive. It was a chest (injury) because he had a little blood in his mouth. They just wanted to make sure it was clear."

On if Parys Haralson can play in the first regular season game: "Yeah, very realistic (that he'll play). Yeah. We didn't play him in this game. I think so (that he'll play in Week 1)."

On the status of defensive end Glenn Foster: "I think he's fine. It's his ankle, but I think he's alright."
