The Gregg Williams Foundation hosted a St. Patrick's Day block party charity event Thursday night at Superior Grill on 3636 St. Charles Avenue in New Orleans. 100 percent of the proceeds from the event will go towards the foundation.
"This night gives us a chance to raise money for kids and my foundation," said Williams at the event. "I have taken some grief for hosting a St. Patrick's Day event at a Mexican restaurant but this is one of my favorite places to eat in the city. It's a great event."
The block party featured a Saints tent replete with traditional offerings from the Superior Grill, as well as special courses and beverages dedicated to celebrating the St. Patrick's Day festivities.
Fans had a chance to be photographed with the Saints' Super Bowl XLIV Lombardi Trophy. In addition, numerous items including autographed memorabilia and keepsakes were available for purchase and/or auction, with all of the proceeds benefiting the Gregg Williams Foundation.
The Superior Grill generously donated food and drinks purchased inside of the Saints tent to be donated to the foundation. The foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed in December 2004, is named for Gregg Williams, a 1976 Excelsior Springs High School graduate who was a record-breaking Tiger athlete in basketball, baseball, and football, was a former ESSD coach and teacher, a 2006 Excelsior Springs (MO) Hall of Fame inductee, and is presently Defensive Coordinator of the New Orleans Saints.
