New Orleans Saints right tackle Ryan Ramczyk was placed on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list Thursday.
The move was not totally unexpected; the three-time All-Pro (2018-20) and 2017 first-round draft pick had been slow to make progress from offseason knee surgery and did not participate in OTAs or the veteran minicamp. New Orleans drafted Oregon State right tackle Taliese Fuaga in the first round this year but shifted Fuaga to left tackle and worked in Trevor Penning, the team's first-round pick in 2022, at right tackle. The move effectively ends Ramczyk's season.
Ramczyk started 63 of the Saints' 64 games in his first four seasons, but the number dipped to 38 starts in 50 games the last three years as injuries began to take a toll, and Coach Dennis Allen said that neither he nor Ramczyk had seen the improvement they'd hoped to see this offseason.
The team also placed tight end Juwan Johnson, defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon, linebacker Nephi Sewell and defensive end Chase Young on the physically unable to perform list, placed receiver Chris Olave on the non-football injury list and activated receiver Bub Means from the non-football injury list.
