The New Orleans Saints have signed Scott Winnewisser, an undrafted free agent from Cal Poly, Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced Monday.
Winnewisser, 6-5, 301, joins the team after participating in the Saints' rookie mini-camp (May 11-13, 2012). The versatile lineman played mostly at tackle but moved to right guard in his senior campaign at California Poly State University. Winnewisser appeared in 38 games with 33 starts in his five-year career as a Mustang. Following the 2011 season, he earned first-team All-Great West Conference honors after being a second-team selection in 2010 and 2009.
The Santa Barbara, CA native began his collegiate career as a walk-on for Cal Poly. Winnewisser graduated with a degree in Biomedical Engineering.
The New Orleans Saints currently have 84 signed players on their roster.
This week, the Saints will conduct OTAs May 29-31 with the session on May 31 open to the media. The team continues OTAs June 11-14.
