Halftime Update

Halftime update: Denver Broncos 16, New Orleans Saints 3 | 2024 NFL Week 7

Saints will get the ball to start the second half

The Denver Broncos controlled the first half and took a 16-3 lead into halftime over the New Orleans Saints on Thursday night at the Caesars Superdome.

Denver kicker Wil Lutz, who used to play for the Saints, made 46-, 32- and 52-yard field goals for the Broncos, and Javonte Williams had an 8-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Saints kicker Blake Grupe made a 35-yard field with 1:57 to play in the half.

Rookie Spencer Rattler got his second start in place of the injured Derek Carr and was 10 of 13 for 90 yards, with a lost fumble. Second-year running back Kendre MIller saw his first action of the season and had a carry for eight yards. Denver also started a rookie quarterback, Bo Nix, who was 13 of 21 for 134 yards with 41 yards rushing.

Saints cornerback Paulson Adebo had to be carted off the field in the second quarter with a right knee injury. He was replaced by Kool-Aid McKinstry. It is just the latest injury to a team already missing multiple offensive and defensive starters.

Legendary Saints quarterback Drew Brees will be honored at halftime for his induction into the Saints Hall of Fame. He was introduced with the team and helped lead the pregame chant with some of his former teammates.

The Saints (2-4) will get the ball to start the second half as they try to rally and end a four-game losing streak.
