Halftime update: Washington Commanders 14, New Orleans Saints 0 | 2024 NFL Week 15

Commanders will get the ball to start the second half

The Washington Commanders and quarterback Jayden Daniels dominated in taking a 14-0 halftime lead over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday at the Caesars Superdome.

Daniels, a rookie who won the Heisman Trophy last year while he was at LSU, was 17 of 19 passing for 141 yards with two touchdown passes to Terry McLaurin. Daniels also ran six times for 20 yards. But when Daniels wasn't making a play he was being sacked by the Saints, as the defense brought him down five times.

Defensive ends Chase Young and Cameron Jordan each had a sack. The takedown gave Jordan 119.5 for his career and Daniels is the 48th player he has sacked. Linebackers Willie Gay and Demario Davis each had a sack as did defensive back Ugo Amadi.

Second-year quarterback Jake Haener made his first career start in place of the injured Derek Carr. Haener was four of 10 for 49 yards with an interception. He was sacked three times. The offense struggled to sustain drives with the best play a 29-yard pass to Alvin Kamara. With 3:38 to play in the half the Saints had 21 yards of offense and the team was zero for four on third down. The offense finished with 38 yards while going one of six on third down.

The Commanders (8-5) will get the ball to start the second half.
