The Kansas City Chiefs entered halftime with a 16-7 lead on the New Orleans Saints on Monday at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
The Chiefs grabbed a 10-0 lead on a 5-yard touchdown run by Kareem Hunt and a 26-yard field goal by Harrison Butker.
The Saints (2-2) got on the scoreboard with a 43-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Derek Carr to receiver Rashid Shaheed. Carr was nine of 14 for 85 yards with the touchdown and an interception on the team's opening drive. Playing behind a makeshift offensive line, running back Alvin Kamara had 18 yards on six carries.
The Chiefs added a 34-yard Butker field goal with 1:32 to play for the 13-7 lead and a 28-yarder at the end of the half.
Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes was 19 of 27 for 216 yards and two carries for 16 yards. Defensive end Chase Young sacked Mahomes in the second quarter for his first sack with the Saints. Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce had eight receptions for 67 yards.
The Saints lost safety Will Harris to a hamstring injury in the second quarter.
The Chiefs (4-0) will get the ball to start the second half.
