New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced today that the club has signed center Connor McGovern to the active roster and waived wide receiver A.T. Perry.
McGovern, 6-4, 306, was originally selected by the Denver Broncos in the fifth round (144th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft out of Missouri. In seven seasons with the Broncos and the New York Jets, he has appeared in 102 games with 91 starts (78 at center, 13 at right guard). In 2022, McGovern played every snap for the Jets and ranked in the top ten among all players with at least 750 snaps at center in both run and pass blocking grades as well as overall offensive grades per Pro Football Focus. In 2023, he started all seven games he appeared in for New York at center before suffering a season-ending knee injury. The Fargo, N.D. native spent the start of the 2024 season on the Jets practice squad prior to signing with New Orleans.
McGovern started 40 of the 49 games he played in for the Tigers at right guard, right tackle, and left tackle from 2012-15. As a junior in 2014, he started four games at right tackle before starting the final ten contests at right guard, helping lead Missouri to the SEC Championship game. He was also named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll three times during his collegiate career.
