New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced today that the club has completed a trade with the New England Patriots for defensive tackle Davon Godchaux (pronounced duh-VAHN GOD-chaw) in exchange for future considerations.

Godchaux, 6-3, 330, was originally selected by the Miami Dolphins in the fifth round (178th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. In eight seasons with the Dolphins (2017-20) and Patriots (2021-24), Godchaux has appeared in 120 games with 109 starts, recording 429 tackles (205 solo), 20 stops for a loss, 5.5 sacks, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles and a forced fumble, as well as one solo stop in the 2021 Wild Card Playoff for the Patriots.

Godchaux joined New England as an unrestricted free agent in 2021, where in four seasons he appeared in all 68 games with 67 starts, starting every game for the past three seasons, and recorded 250 tackles (105 solo), 2.5 sacks, one pass breakup, eight stops for a loss, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery. In 2024, he started all 17 games and posted 67 tackles (24 solo), one pass breakup and one stop for loss.

In three seasons at LSU (2014-16), the Plaquemine, La. native appeared in 37 games with 34 starts, recording 145 tackles (62 solo), 12.5 sacks, two pass breakups and two forced fumbles. As a junior, he started all 12 games, tallying 62 tackles, 8.5 stops for a loss and 6.5 sacks for an LSU defense that allowed only 16 touchdowns all season, the fewest of any FBS team.

His foundation, The Chauxdown Foundation, empowers at-risk youth through fitness, literacy and educational programming, serving over 2,000 youth in the Miami and Plaquemine communities by providing children with toys and necessary school supplies to receive a proper education.

New Orleans Saints announced they have acquired defensive tackle Davon Godchaux in a trade with the New England Patriots. Check out Godchaux in action with the Pats and Miami Dolphins during his NFL career, as well as at the collegiate level with the LSU Tigers.
