New Orleans Saints agree to terms with S Justin Reid

NFL Free Agency 2025: In 2024, Reid started all 16 regular season games he played in and led the Chiefs secondary with 85 tackles (59 solo), five stops for a loss, and two interceptions.

New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced today that the club has agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent safety Justin Reid on a three-year contract.

Reid, 6-1, 207, is a seven-year NFL veteran who was originally selected by the Houston Texans in the third round (68th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Stanford. The former Dutchtown (Geismar, La.) standout has played in 106 career regular season games with 102 starts for the Texans (2018-21) and Kansas City Chiefs (2022-24), recording 565 tackles (412 solo), 23 stops for a loss, six sacks, ten interceptions, with one returned 101 yards for a touchdown, 46 pass breakups, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and 15 special teams stops. Reid has started all 13 postseason contests he has played in and recorded 79 tackles (58 solo), four stops for a loss, 1.5 sacks and five pass breakups, playing for two Super Bowl champion squads as a member of the Chiefs.

In 2024, Reid started all 16 regular season games he played in and led the Chiefs secondary with 85 tackles (59 solo), five stops for a loss, two interceptions, nine pass breakups and two coverage stops. In Kansas City's run to Super Bowl LIX, Reid opened all three playoff contests and finished with 19 tackles (14 solo), one stop for loss and one pass breakup. Reid played a key role in leading the Chiefs' defense, which was ranked fourth in the NFL in opponent points per game, ninth in opponent net yards per game, eighth in opponent rushing yards per game and seventh in opponent net passing yards per game.

In three seasons at Stanford, Reid finished with career totals of 179 tackles (105 solo), 20 pass breakups, 10.5 stops for a loss, six interceptions, one fumble recovery and one sack in 39 games. As a junior in 2017, he ranked first among Pac-12 players and 11h nationally with five interceptions and compiled 99 tackles (52 solo), 6.5 stops for a loss, one sack and six pass breakups, earning consensus second-team All-American honors.

Off the field, through his JReid InDeed philanthropic organization, Reid supports disadvantaged youth by supporting initiatives through interactive programs, community engagement, and technology access. The foundation is dedicated to expanding STEM opportunities for children in underserved communities of Baton Rouge, Houston, and Kansas City.
