QB Chase Daniel and his alma mater the University Missouri announced on Saturday that Daniel will endow the "Chase Daniel Lone-Star State" Scholarship.
The scholarship will be awarded annually to a player from Texas. The scholarship can go to a different Missouri football player from the state of Texas each year or to the same player for multiple years.
Daniel, a Southlake, Texas native, announced the scholarship at the Mizzou Arena prior to the Missouri–Kansas basketball game.
"I am very excited about this and have wanted to do it for a long time," said Daniel. "My hope is this will benefit student-athletes for years to come, help the football program and encourage other alums to give back."
Daniel led Missouri to a 30-11 record over three years as a starter, including the first two Big 12 North Division titles in school history. He completed 1,094-of-1,609 passes (68.0%) for 12,515 yards with 101 TDs and 41 interceptions with a 149.0 rating. He rushed for 970 yards on 364 carries and 10 TDs. He became the first Tiger to be named a Heisman Finalist.
