New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced today that the club has signed tight end Jesper Horsted and waived wide receiver Kyle Sheets.
Horsted, 6-3, 237, is a four-year NFL veteran who was originally signed by the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Princeton in 2019. In his career, he has appeared in 41 games with one start for Chicago (2019-21) and the Las Vegas Raiders (2022-23). He has recorded career totals of 14 receptions for 131 yards with three touchdowns and ten special teams tackles.
In 2023, his second season in Las Vegas, the St. Paul, Minn. native played in 13 games and caught a pass for a four-yard gain and contributed to the Raiders special teams units by tying a career-high with four coverage tackles.
At Princeton, Horsted was a four-year letterman at wide receiver and finished his collegiate career as the program's all-time leader in receptions (196) and receiving touchdowns (28). He earned first-team All-Ivy League honors as a senior after catching 72 passes for 1,047 yards and 13 touchdowns as a part of the highest-scoring offense in Ivy League history.
