New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced today that the club has signed tackle Josh Ball to the active roster from the Dallas Cowboys practice squad and placed linebacker Jaylan Ford on Injured Reserve.
Ball, 6-8 304, was originally a fourth round selection (138th overall) of the Cowboys in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Marshall. Spending his rookie season on Injured Reserve (ankle), Ball played in 13 regular season contests and both postseason games for the Cowboys in 2022, seeing the majority of his action on special teams. After spending the 2023 campaign on Injured Reserve with a hip injury, Ball contributed on the Cowboys practice squad in 2024.
Ball, a Fredericksburg, Va., native, started his college career at Florida State from 2016-17, starting the last nine games of his sophomore campaign at left tackle. After serving as Butler Junior College's starting left tackle in 2018, Ball transferred to Marshall, where he made an impact on their offensive line. In 2019, he saw action in 13 games with one start and in 2020, he started all eight games he appeared in with seven starts at right tackle and one at left tackle, helping block for an offense that averaged 28.5 points per game and 391.3 total net yards of offense per game, including 178.4 yards-per-game on the ground.
