New Orleans Saints Sign CB Kool-Aid McKinstry to Four-Year Contract

New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced today that the club has signed cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstryto a four-year contract.

McKinstry, 5-11, 199, was New Orleans' second round pick (41st overall) out of Alabama. In three seasons (2021-23) with the Crimson Tide, he posted 92 tackles (61 solo), two interceptions and 25 passes defensed. In his two seasons (2022-23) as Alabama's primary punt returner, he returned 35 punts for 418 yards (11.9 avg).

In 2023, the Pinson, Ala. native started all 14 games for a Crimson Tide team that won the SEC Championship game and advanced to the College Football Playoff for the second time in three seasons and recorded 32 tackles (24 solo) and seven passes defensed to go along with 14 punt returns for 86 yards. McKinstry earned consensus first-team All-American and All-SEC selections and was a semifinalist for the Thorpe Award. In 2022, McKinstry was a second-team All-American at cornerback and punt returner and a first-team All-SEC defensive back. On defense, he posted 35 stops, one sack, one interception and 16 passes defensed. On special teams, he ranked second among NCAA Division 1-A punt returners with 332 yards and averaged 15.8 yards per punt return, second in the nation and first in the Southeastern Conference.

The team's entire seven-player draft class is now under contract.

New Orleans Saints players participated in the team's 2024 OTA practices on May 28, 2024 at the Ochsner Sports Performance Center.
