New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced today that the club has signed wide receiver Samson Nacua and terminated the contract of quarterback Nathan Peterman.
Nacua, 6-3 206, was originally signed by the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent following the 2022 NFL Draft and competed in their training camp. In 2024, he played for the UFL's Michigan Panthers and recorded 11 receptions for 125 yards. He appeared in two games for the USFL's Pittsburgh Maulers in 2023.
The Provo, Utah native played five seasons at the University of Utah (2016-20), appearing in 45 career games with eight starts. After initially walking on with the Utes in 2016, Nacua earned a scholarship as a freshman and posted 82 career receptions with 1,015 yards (12.37 avg.) and 11 touchdowns. In 2021, Nacua transferred to BYU for his final season of collegiate eligibility, appearing in 12 games with 21 receptions for 329 yards (15.7 avg.) and three touchdowns.
