New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced Friday that the club has signed tight end Jesper Horsted. Here are five things to know about the Saints roster addition:
- Horsted was drafted by the Chicago Bears in 2019, making this season his fifth season in the NFL. The special teams ace has logged 41 games played during his professional career.
- Horsted spent two years with the Las Vegas Raiders from 2022-2023. He will rejoin several former teammates, including quarterback Derek Carr, tight end Foster Moreau, and newly signed defensive tackle Kendal Vickers.
- He spent his collegiate career as a wide receiver at Princeton, where he earned All-America honors and was also named a finalist for the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year Award in his senior season.
- During his four seasons with the Tigers, he set collegiate career records in receptions (196) and touchdown catches and became just the 11th player in program history to earn an invitation to the prestigious East-West Shrine Game.
- Horsted was named the 2015 Minnesota High School Athlete of the Year by the St. Paul Pioneer Press. He also set the Minnesota state record for single-game receptions (19 for 293 yards) in the 2013 state playoffs. He finished his high school career ranked sixth nationally in receiving stats for his class in 2013-14 (82 catches for 1,484 yards and 19 touchdowns) .
