New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced Saturday that the club has signed tight end Mason Fairchild. Here are five things to know about the Saints roster addition:

  1. The 6-foot-4, 260-pound tight end signs with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Kansas. Fairchild attended rookie minicamp with the Buffalo Bills earlier in the offseason.
  2. Fairchild played five seasons for the Jayhawks where he appeared in 56 games, 18 starts and accrued 82 catches for 1,111 yards and 10 touchdowns.
  3. He was named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy in 2023, an award that recognizes an athlete for combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership.
  4. The tight end had a breakout season in 2022, catching a career-high 35 passes for 443 yards and six touchdowns. He ended the season with a strong performance, tallying six catches for 80 yards and a touchdown in the Liberty Bowl where Kansas would lose in overtime to Arkansas, 55-53.
  5. He attended Andale High School, in his hometown of Andale, Kans., where he helped lead the school to an 11-1 record his senior season playing defensive end and tight end.
