New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced Tuesday that the club has signed linebacker Mike Rose. Here are five things to know about the Saints roster addition:
- Rose attended training camp for the Miami Dolphins in 2023 and the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022. He appeared in two preseason games with the Dolphins and registered six tackles (two solo). With the Chiefs, he played in three preseason contests and tallied five tackles (four solo) and one pass deflection.
- Following his time at Miami, Rose played in the XFL in 2023 for the St. Louis Battlehawks. Rose racked up 35 tackles (15 solo) in eight games (six starts). Rose rejoined the Battlehawks in the newly-formed UFL in 2024, recording another 45 tackles (25 solo) as well as two interceptions, three pass breakups, and one forced fumble in seven games.
- The 6-foot-4, 250-pound linebacker played for the Iowa State Cyclones from 2018 to 2021. Rose started 49 games, tied for second highest total in school history and posted totals of 321 tackles (170 solo), 41 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, and six interceptions. The 41 tackles for loss is the third highest total in school history. He was also a four-time All-Big 12 selection.
- Rose's best collegiate season came in his junior year where led the Cyclones and the Big 12 in tackles with 96. He also added five interceptions which ranked first nationally among linebackers and the most-ever by a Cyclone linebacker. He earned second-team All-American honors for his performance in 2020 and would receive the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year awars, becoming the first Cyclone to achieve that feat since former Saints linebacker A.J. Klein.
- Rose played for Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School where he was a first-team all-conference and all-district selection in his senior season after posting 53 tackles and 10 tackles for loss in seven games. He also was a two-time all-conference basketball player.
