New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced today that the club has signed cornerback Mac McCain and safety Roderic Teamer and waived defensive end Nathan Latu.
McCain, 6-0, 185, was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Denver Broncos in 2021 out of North Carolina A&T. In his rookie season, he played in two games for the Philadelphia Eagles and recorded two tackles (one solo) and one special teams stop in the regular season finale against the Dallas Cowboys. In 2022, the Greensboro, N.C. native spent 17 weeks of the regular season and the entire postseason on the Eagles practice squad. In 2023, he went to training camp with the Carolina Panthers.
McCain appeared in 29 games at North Carolina A&T from 2017-19 and recorded college career totals of 113 tackles (87 solo), eight interceptions, 22 passes defensed, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. In 2019, he started all nine games he played in for the Aggies and was named a second-team All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference selection after registering 26 tackles (21 solo), six passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
Teamer, 6-0, 205, is a four-year NFL veteran who was originally signed by the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Tulane in 2019. He joins the Saints after participating in their June 11-13 minicamp on a tryout basis. In his career, he has appeared in 40 regular season games with 11 starts for the Chargers (2019) and Las Vegas Raiders (2021-23) and recorded 93 tackles (67 solo), one sack, three stops for loss, one interception, three passes defensed and ten special teams stops.
A New Orleans native who was a high school standout at Brother Martin, Teamer played in six games in 2023 for the Raiders and totaled four tackles (three solo) and one special teams stop. In 2022, he played in every game for the first time in his career with three starts for the Raiders and totaled 35 tackles (23 solo), a career-high two stops for loss, one pass defense and a career-high five special teams stops.
Teamer played four seasons at Tulane (2015-18), appearing in 46 games and totaling 197 tackles (128 solo), three sacks, three interceptions, 15 passes defensed, four forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. As a senior in 2018, he finished with 72 tackles (45 solo), one sack, interception, seven passes defensed and one forced fumble, as the Green Wave won their first bowl game since 2002.
